The living specimens are photographed with a Canon EOS300D and a SIGMA APO MACRO 300mm lens. The pictures of mounted specimens on this website have been taken with a digital camera (Canon PowerShot) mounted with an adapter to a Zeiss stereo-microscope. Each picture is constructed from a series of photographs each with the focal point on a different layer of the specimen (see below left). With computer program CombineZ the series of pictures with different focal points the sharp parts of each picture are combined into a single, fully sharp picture (see below right).

Southeast Asian beetles
